When considering a Catahoula, keep in mind they are a high energy, protective, territorial, intelligent, working bred dog with strong working drives. Our puppies are bred for and exhibit those characteristics and qualities.
Puppies are best suited for homes with a job or daily strenuous activity and room for the dog to run. They will require discipline, training and an owner that can be the alpha in the pack. They are not suited for apartment homes or subdivision homes with limited personal space. They are not suited for dog parks and will be territorial, not tolerate strange dogs or same gender dogs, be standoffish to strangers and MUST be taught and reinforced pack order at an early age.
Please research the breed completely and thoroughly before deciding on a Catahoulas and be sure you are willing to invest the time and effort into training the puppy. They are not suited to all homes or all types of people.
Please read our purchase information and contact us with any questions or for additional information.
NOTE: Due to the many variations in the Catahoula breed, we cannot predict coat or eye color results from any breeding and you may have to wait for other litters to get the desired puppy.
Please be sure you are willing to wait for that special puppy before placing a nonrefundable deposit.

PUPPY SELECTION:
**For the health and safety of our puppies and dogs, our selection process is by PHOTOS ONLY. **
We try to maintain a disease-free environment for our dogs and will not risk a disease being accidentally introduced into their environment by visitors; therefore, we are a closed kennel.
Gestation period is usually between 60 - 63 days and puppies will be available for pick up at 6-7weeks of age. Depositors will be notified that a litter has been born and we will begin our puppy selection approximately 4-5 weeks after birth. Group puppy pictures may be posted on our website or facebook page as time allows and after we are beyond the nesting stage which is approximately 2-3 weeks after birth. We understand that everyone is anxiously waiting to choose a puppy, but please be patient and we will provide pictures at the appropriate time.
When the puppies are approximately five (5) weeks of age, we will begin puppy selection for depositors. At that time, individual pictures will be provided to each depositors in chronological order. In order to keep the selection process moving smoothly, each depositor has 36 hours to select a puppy. Please keep in mind other depositors are waiting to select a puppy as well.
** If a depositor does not respond within the 36 hour period and has not made a selection, we will continue the selection process with the next depositor. **
The selection process must be completed by 6 weeks of age so delivery by ground can begin at 6 weeks old and arrangements can be made for ground transport at 8 weeks old.
Puppy selection is a prolonged process and we will not hold puppies until weaning age to start the process.
All puppy deposits are non-refundable; therefore, if you choose to pass on a litter or cannot get the puppy you want, your deposit will be rolled to the next litter. In the event of the following: puppies are lost at nesting, a small litter is born, a breeding doesn't "take", or any other unforeseen events occur, your deposit will be rolled over to the next litter. With the exception of the above, each depositor will have the opportunity to choose a puppy within a 12 to 18 month period of time. However, when a depositor has had ample opportunity to choose a puppy from at least two available litters or within 12-18 months and refuses to make a selection your deposit will be forfeited. This will be handled on an individual basis.
Any puppies that remain after waiting lists clients have chosen will be offered to the public.

PUPPY PICK UP:
Puppies are available for pick up in Groveton, Texas at 6-7 weeks of age. Please plan in advance to be available to pick up your puppy between 6 and 8 weeks of age. If you request or require your puppy to be held beyond 8 weeks of age, the puppy balance must be paid in full prior to pick up and there will be a care charge of $50.00 per week due at pick up. We are available to meet in Groveton any day except Sundays.
If you are unable to meet to pick up your puppy, we can arrange ground transport through a reputable transporter at the buyer's expense depending on the buyers location.
Your puppy will have received three to four de-wormings and at least one five-way vaccination booster at the time of pick up. Keep in mind, it is the buyers responsibility to administer or have your personal veterinarian administer the remaining vaccines in the series to your puppy and maintain the proper deworming schedule for your area.
We have a 7 day guarantee for infectious/contagious disease or death from the day you pick up your puppy which is the standard practice. Once a puppy leaves, we no longer have control on what a puppy is exposed to, how it is cared for, whether it is vaccinated in a timely manner, dewormed, etc. It is important to be very careful where you and your puppy go and have your puppy seen by your veterinarian to ensure the proper vaccination and deworming schedule is followed. After the 7th day, beginning with the date of delivery or shipping date, we are no longer responsible for any contagious/infectious disease. It is rare we have an issue once a pup leaves, but it is a puppy and unforeseen situations can occur. These issues will be handled on an individual basis. We are very easy and reasonable to work with. If you have a concern contact us immediately.

PLANNED LITTERS
PLEASE NOTE: Planned litters are subject to change if a breeding does not take.
** WE HAVE FILLED ALL AVAILABLE SPOTS FOR THIS LITTER **
We are very excited to announce that this breeding took. Boudreaux is our oldest sire so we are not getting as many litters sired by him as we have in the past. Boudreaux is one of our favorite sires; he has been an excellent working dog and our go to for any job and he has earned his retirement! This is a breeding we had planned from the time Tasha and we are thrilled to be expecting this August litter. We will definitely be reserving our picks of this litter and puppies we will most likely not begin puppy selection until puppies are around 7 weeks old so we can determine dispositions.

** WE HAVE FILLED ALL AVAILABLE SPOTS FOR THIS LITTER **
We are very happy to welcome 6 beautiful puppies and anticipate that they will mature into great working dogs! This is our first litter sired by Rufus! Rufus has a strong drive for baying livestock and varmint elimination; Sassy began working at 4 months and has a strong drive for baying hogs and livestock. Puppies from this litter should be versatile and work for hogs (pen or woods) or livestock and varmint elimination with even temperaments.
We are looking forward to this first time cross! Nobah is a full sister to Bolo and exhibits her same all-around working drive with a protective nature, which is not surprising with parents like Boudreaux & Merlot! This will be Ryko's second sired by litter, but our first litter here at Loukat's and we can hardly wait to see how the pups turn out! Ryko is pointed in conformation with NALC and he loves baying livestock and eliminating varmints. He inherited his more laid-back disposition from his dam and works well with most other dogs. Puppies should mature into great working dogs with even temperaments and typical Catahoula traits.
It has been a minute since we made this cross and we are hoping for a grand finale for Razz. As she is quickly approaching retirement we will try for another excellent litter sired by Tuco! We are hopeful for another puppy identical to Loukat's Ryko, but we know based on previous litters, the puppies born are going to mature to great working dogs for livestock and tracking and will be absolutely beautiful regardless of coat color! We will be retaining a pick of this litter as it may possibly be Razz's last!
